3 Core Products EVERYONE Needs

Getting your skin care regimen in check can seem overwhelming! There are SO many products on the market and everyone's skin is so different that you might not know where to start. While I will always recommend getting a custom regimen from a licensed skin professional, these are my 3 core products I recommend to almost every single one of my clients!

Vitamin C

My favorite serum, it's just the everything serum! It is loaded with antioxidants that fight off damage from free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that break down the skin's DNA. Vitamin C is also hydrating, helps promote a healthy skin barrier, and even skin tone. I personally only use in the morning, but it very well could be used at night as well.

There are a few forms of Vitamin C, but my absolute favorite is Ascorbic acid. It's the most potent form of Vitamin C and you are really able to reap the benefits.

Or if the word Retinol is scary to you, Vitamin A! You will need to build up a tolerance, so in the beginning you will only want to use it once or twice a week (I usually recommend Sunday and humpday since it is what is easiest to remember). Once your skin is acclimated, add another day. The goal is to use it every night, and only at night. The biggest complaint I hear is that it is drying. If you experience that, you may be using too high of a percentage, too often, or you may want to apply and then top with a moisturizer. Remember, we don't mix products, we layer products!

Retinol boosts collagen production, which minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. It also will help with cell turnover, improving skin tone and texture. I've also had great experiences with using retinol to control acne breakouts.

No, your make up that has SPF is not enough. You would literally need to apply 30 layers to get the recommended dose for it to be effective. Also, your chemical SPF is not doing the trick. You need to be using a physical SPF, daily, and reapplying every 2 hours. I hate to break it to you, but the sun is not your skin's friend. Aside from the biggest concern of skin cancer (which is the most common form of cancer that 1 in 5 people will get before the age of 70!) it breaks down the elasticity in your skin and will cause premature aging.

This is my favorite SPF! It's tinted, but they have no tint if you prefer that.
